Many of the workers who came to the country on holiday from abroad could not return to their destination work on time due to the Covid-19 situation. Many workers' Visas/ Iqama/ Work permits have already expired. Various initiatives have been taken by the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of External Affairs through inter-ministerial coordination to extend the Visa/ Iqama period for those who want to return abroad and increase the number of flights.
The Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment has taken initiative to register all such workers in the near future with the aim of providing effective diplomatic efforts and assistance to the returnees and stranded commuters. The information obtained in this process will be helpful in carrying out diplomatic activities and relevant activities.
All such workers wishing to return abroad are requested to register online immediately at the link of BMET website (www.old.bmet.gov.bd/BMET/returnMigrant). This registration can be done from any smart phone or computer. No fee has to be paid for registration.
If necessary, the nearest District Employment and Manpower Office (DEMO) can be contacted in this regard. Please visit BMET's website (www.bmet.gov.bd) for DEMO information.
Note that, Online registration will only be used for informational and other support activities; This registration does not guarantee repatriation/ re-employment.
